The latest expansion to the Final Fantasy trading card gameHidden Legends, is now available. Booster packs have been shipping since November 15, 2024. The focus is particularly on the premium full-art cards, of which Square Enix presents some pretty illustrations.

These special cards show large-scale works of art, but are still playable. 29 full art cards from artists like Gen Kobayashi and Ryoma Ito are included in the new expansion. The motifs represent characters from titles such as Final Fantasy XII, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Lightning Returns, but also Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

This time Yasuhisa Izumisawa’s motif fell to Izumisawa My life as a king into the eye. They are obviously modeled on traditional European cards, there are two “Jacks” for Stiltskin and Hugh Yurg and a “Queen” for Chime.

In addition to the full-art cards, there are also standard versions of the same cards in the traditional format. As an example, Square Enix shows the differences between the two variants using the Neon map from Stranger of Paradise.

The set also introduces cards from Final Fantasy XVI – The highlight for many fans and collectors will likely be the Clive card as a full art card motif (seen again below). In addition, there is the new “priming” mechanic and the “limit break” mechanic, which will take you further to the new limits with cards. Hidden Legends concludes the “Hidden” trilogy. The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game combines tactical gameplay with simple rules and complex strategies. The high-quality illustrations that were created specifically for the game make it even more attractive for collectors and fans of the series.
