This is how the collaboration with The National came about

Taylor Swift has earned a special spot at The National! The pop singer and the indie rock band found each other back in 2014. After a fruitful collaboration with Aaron Dessner, one of the band’s founding members, producing Taylor’s albums “Folklore” and “Evermore”, the band also appeared on the song “Coney Island”. Now Taylor has brought her creative touch to the track “The Alcott,” which features on The National’s latest album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein.

The exciting collaboration between Taylor Swift and The National

In an interview with MOJO magazine, Aaron talks about the magic of this collaboration: “Taylor is a huge fan of ours, and I think that added a lot to the chemistry between us.” It just felt right. Despite her huge success, she is just someone who creates great music in different styles. She was very clear: ‘Send me the weirdest thing.’ It was fascinating to watch the dialogue between her and Matt (Berninger, the band’s frontman).”

Matt normally writes a lot with his wife Carin Besser, but he sees Taylor as an excellent complement. “Taylor wrote all of the lyrics for The Alcott himself, and that was impressive,” he explains. “She brought a breath of fresh air into the conversation. It was as if she was incorporating Carin’s perspective as we discussed how we work together as creative partners and spouses. This is anything but easy.”
