Bolzano – Today the Climate Show project by Climate Action South Tyrol, OEW – Organization for a Solidarity World and Climate Club South Tyrol was awarded first place in the 2023 Environment and Climate Prize of the states of Tyrol and South Tyrol. As part of the award ceremony, Climate Protection South Tyrol drew attention to the need for a climate law through a flash mob campaign.

“The state government’s 2040 climate plan has no legally required costs and, accordingly, the state government continues to make decisions of great importance that continue to put a strain on our climate.” “The latest figures from the INEMAR emissions inventory once again clearly show that South Tyrol’s emissions will continue to rise between 2019 and 2022 have increased instead of decreasing,” explains Climate Protection South Tyrol in a press release.

But with this campaign, the organization is not only calling on the state government to finally take climate protection seriously, but also all decision-makers from the partner organizations that are behind this environmental and climate award – in particular the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Association, the HGV, the employers’ association South Tyrol and the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce. The climate activists demand that they all assume their responsibility for real climate protection.

“We are calling for a climate law that creates a fair competitive environment for sustainability, especially for companies, so that unsustainable behavior finally becomes a clear economic disadvantage,” explain the environmental organizations.
