Injured man found with stab wound on Karl Marx head in Chemnitz

In Chemnitz, the police were called to the Karl Marx monument at four o’clock on Saturday morning. As the authorities announced, a man was found near the monument with a stab wound. The 29-year-old Afghan was taken to a hospital. He is receiving intensive care there. The criminal police and the public prosecutor’s office are investigating suspected attempted murder.

The area in front of the monument was cordoned off over a large area. The police secured traces there. According to initial investigations, the seriously injured man had gone to a bar with a friend. After they left around four in the morning, an acquaintance suddenly attacked them, the companion told the police. He was able to escape unharmed and called the police. The search for the suspected attacker continued, it was said.
