“We even brought you an ear,” says Antje Stübling, hugging first the dog and then her master. Your little “Eumel” looks skeptical at first before sniffing and wagging. “The two of them already know each other, we quickly feel at home here,” said the Berliner.

“Chief Barking Officer”

Ben is the “Chief Barking Officer” in the hotel, the barking department manager, and even has a corresponding employee ID card. Even if he’s not a barker, but a sniffer and heartbreaker – the chocolate-brown, four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador exudes so much charm. “And he’s pretty hungry, just a typical Labrador!” says the owner, laughing.

Ben is in the hotel manager’s office almost every day, where he has a place to retreat to, but he also likes to come along to meetings. Roman Riedel knows how good this is: “It has been proven that an office dog like this reduces stress.”

Of course, Ben has his own employee ID card.

The regulars ask about Ben. People who get to know him anew sometimes fall in love. “We just had that last week, a lady wanted to adopt him and take him with her!”

From the animal shelter to the hotel

Nothing there. For Roman Riedel, Ben is the long-awaited fulfillment of a heartfelt wish. “I had two cats,” he said, explaining the wait. When they went to cat heaven at the age of 18 and 19, the time was ripe for a dog.

He gives animal recommendations and reveals where there is good food, beautiful parks, good dog beaches or, if necessary, a veterinarian. For the fluffy hotel guests, there is even a “dog station” with all sorts of things to borrow: leashes, toys, sticks, for example.

Particularly dog friendly

The dogs are also allowed in the lounge. A table is then reserved for breakfast for the dog and owner – a little away so that it is relaxed for all other hotel guests and the furry friends. The concept is well received, many guests praise the dog-friendly hotel.

“It was our first time in a hotel with our dog. We will do it again. The entire personal was so accommodating and friendly. Simply perfect. Nothing is missing. Even our dog lay relaxed in front of the sofa at the bar in the evening. That was also relaxation for us,” writes Rene König on Google, for example. “The dog is on the same level as the human,” thanks another guest there.

Great dog life

And Ben? He does what makes a dog’s life so special. Walks and sniffs at the harbor, in the forest and on the dog beach. In between, chilling out, sleeping, chewing toys and chewing bones, stealing treats, having their stomachs, ears and everything in between scratched and stealing hearts with the particularly intense, labrador-specific dog look. No matter whether with hotel colleagues or guests.
