Christina Aguilera reveals what her kids borrow from her closet

Christina AguileraThe closet at home is not taboo.

The “Genie in a Bottle” singer and Mother of two children tells PEOPLE exclusively that her teenage son Max, 16, and teenage daughter Summer, 10, are allowed to borrow her pieces whenever they want.

“It’s fun to see how they wear things differently than I do and reinterpret my fashion choices in a way that makes them their own,” the Grammy winner, 43, tells PEOPLE.

Aguilera’s kids are definitely excited about her cool fashion choices. On November 19th, she gave fans one Insight into your children’s personal style with a family photo shared on Instagram showing Max rocking a grunge graphic t-shirt, camouflage cargo pants, a hat and sunglasses, and Summer in a casual black outfit with high-top sneakers.

The pop star says Max is usually drawn to her chain accessories and Chrome Hearts pieces. Summer, on the other hand, loves wearing her shoes, but Aguilera admits that she thinks her mini-me will “definitely outgrow” her, so she’s not sure how long that will last.

“They both have good personal style and know exactly who they are. I always raised them to express their uniqueness,” she adds.

Great fashion tips and covetable wardrobe items aren’t the only things Aguilera passes on to her children.

“For me, defining beauty means being comfortable in your own skin, and that’s a message I always want to convey to my children,” she tells PEOPLE. “No one else can define what beauty means to you. I enjoy expressing myself creatively and that comes from different styles and looks,” she says.

She not only remembers this on stage, but also tries to live authentically in everyday life.

Looking festive and ready to party, the singer had the honor of cutting the ribbon dressed in a pair of gold hot pants from the brand’s Christmas collection. Her daughter was wearing a loose sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.

Although she embraced her glamorous style at the Nov. 21 event, Aguilera says she can’t wait to celebrate her cozy family tradition since Christmas is less than a month away. “We love cozy Christmas pajamas! “This includes fun onesies and socks,” she revealed.
